S.O.S ORPHANAGE
S.O.S ORPHANAGE is really fun. Mr. Nimal De Silva and Mrs. Huijnen are very lenient and they let us do whatever we want. They dont force us to play with the kids nor do they force us run around everywhere to help the children enjoy.
S.O.S ORPHANAGE
In my new semester, I got S.O.S orphanage as my community and service activity. In this activity, children from orphanage come to school to play with us. We talk and present countries to them and then after that, we got to the swimming pool to play with them. It is really fun to get to know each other and we learn new things about countries too. In the pool, we have fun playing with them by throwing polo balls at each other or giving them a ride on the boogie boards. It is fun because we also get to play with our friends and at the same time, play with the children. We make friends with many and get to see their fun side in the pool.
I was with Sasha as my partner and we got to meet Ashaan and Sabunika. They were really nice and they also loved playing with us. Ashaan always threw the balls at my head and it hurt. I also presented India to them and had to make the powerpoint in 2 minutes because I didn't read my email about if I am presenting. I also got to give drinks to the kids after the swimming lessons and it was nice how they said thank you to me. It was fun hitting my friends but sometimes I would miss and hit an orphan. I laughed when they would look around confused about who hit them.

Going to the zoo With The RCCI kids:
Today, in 9th February 9, 2010 we went to the Dehiwala zoo with kids in the RCCI group. These children are very friendly but they have problems which stops them from communicating properly. We saw many animals and had fun with them. I learnt that I was a very lucky boy to be so normal and not rejected by others who think that I am mentally disabled.

WHAT I HAVE DONE IN PAST YEARS:
In the past year, I had taken Alzhiemers Foundation for my grade 6 community and service activity. It taught me what alzhiemers was and who get it. It is a disease that many older people get which makes them tend to forget many important things in their life. It is a very unfortunate disease and the person who suffers with it forgets how to respond and do many other things in life. We also made cards, candles and different ramdom items which we could sell in shops to earn money and give it to an alzhiemers house so they could buy new items to make it better.
I also thought how unfortunate they were because of facing this disease in a house where they dont have family and friends to help them get through it. They would just sit and stare at an empty space all day. We also talked about visitng thema nd making them happy at christmas time so we could sing christmas carols and play games with them.
After some discussion we decided we would go and we left for the azhiemers house. Luckily, we didnt have to worry because it is a genteic sickness and we cannot get it by touching the one affected. We set off with lots of sweet food and drinks and also snacks to the alzhiemers house. It was very fun as we got to play with them, talk with them and sing fun carols with them.
It was a very good C.A.S activity as we learnt, played and made things without any pressure. I enjoyed it a lot too.
